Chateau du Cedre 'Cedre Heritage' Malbec 2020

Inky-black in the glass. Complex aromas of plums, cherries and white pepper. Full of blueberry and passion fruit flavours with a spicy backbone. Made from 100% Malbec. Cedre Heritage Malbec is liquid velvet and it goes perfectly with Saturday evening. It’s matured in concrete tanks for 16 months with no residual sugars which pretty much sounds like my life right now.

I found this wine in ‘Le Coq Epicier’ in Angel, Islington - a tiny French grocery store full of heavenly goodies. I’m probably responsible for half of this store’s turnover, but I regret nothing: life is too short not to be a little French.

There is an obscure Danish philosophical theory that states that humans should have been born with a small amount of alcohol in our blood. It argues that modest inebriation opens our minds to the world around us, diminishing problems and increasing creativity. If you ever decide to open your mind to the world around you, choose this wine to do so.

I adore the French and Italian sexiness of food, so I often pair this wine with fresh Focaccia I buy next door in Passage Pantry dipped in rich olive oil, or a sweet bun from buns from home. Or both, really. I’m sure I’m not following any wine-pairing etiquette here, but I do have multi-orgasm with these pairings so it’s quite hard to say no.
