Plot twist
I arrived 2 days after my mum’s funeral in 2015 - broken inside I was, it’s an understatement. London gave me a home when I didn’t find one anywhere else.
It thought me culture, art, fashion, inclusivity, love. It showed me how contrasting life can be and how many different ways I can choose to live. It gave me wonderful friends and fabulous opportunities.
Everybody I know today lives close to the beating heart of the city. We read books in Regent’s Park, dance in disused warehouses in Shoreditch, curiously follow old-English dialogues at the West End and regularly miss curfew because life is just too good to go home early.
I, amongst the other 11 million, give London its very heartbeat.
So, here’s a brand new plot twist I yet to digest: I’ve decided to leave. Whether it’s the famous 7-year itch or longing for a new adventure, the decision was easier to make than I’d ever imagined. The Universe seems to have lined up for this one and pushed me to a completely different direction.
Further up North.
